It's a cool museum. Very much adult oriented and not a place to entertain kids. There's a lot of reading history and looking at old interesting things.
Very informative and self-paced. We're a family of four with two children, ages 8 & 10, and we all enjoyed our visit...we spent about two hours touring. The only "scare" for our children was seeing the inmates enjoying time outside when we pulled into the parking lot. Aside from that, we like this museum and would recommend it.
Leave your phones in the car or they can lock them up for you at the registration desk.
$15 adult entry seemed a little steep, but I enjoyed the hour or so it took to see the museum. It has five levels, with the upper levels only accessible by stairs, but most of the exhibits were on the first floor, with guidebooks available for those who did not want to or were unable to go up the stairs.
Interesting to see "life on the inside" and learn more about a historical prison. I kind of wish it were more of a guided tour or people were available to answer more questions but overall it was good.
Very interesting to see inside this prison. Would be a unique place to show out of town guests looking for something different to do.
Cool experience, the size of the cell block at over 500 cells is overwhelming.
